carving, as well as their generous proportions and size, make them a piece of furniture to be taken into account in the production of this ibero-american genre in the last third of the 18th century. \n \n \n each of these seats is divided by four arms into three seats, where the development of its triple backrest is particularly striking. the lacquer work carried out on each of the backrests is a work to be highlighted from the point of view of constructive quality and design, a detail that the specialist in antique furniture m.ª paz aguiló alonso relates to the similar spade system found in specific aspects of the pulpit of lima cathedral or certain examples conserved in the so-called casa de aliaga (peru) [1]. \n \n \n although they were originally intended for use in the foyers of different architectural constructions (such as palaces or large stately homes) and were conceived as furniture in pairs, in this case we have news of a religious origin, if this was their first destination, as they came, according to the owner, from the choir of the dominican convent of santa catalina de osuna (seville). \n \n \n maría campos carles de peña, versed in the matter in question and through her knowledge of these two pieces of furniture through photographs, points out that \u2018these are pieces of very good stylistic and constructive quality\u2019 where the specialist indicates, in general terms, the possibility of being portuguese work in the rococo style with english influence (chippendale) from the second half of the 18th century [2] . \n \n \n they are in a proporción y tamaño, hacen de ella mobiliario a tener en cuenta dentro de la producción en este género iberoamericano del último tercio del siglo xviii. \n \n \n cada uno de estos escaños se divide mediante cuatro brazos en tres asientos, donde llama poderosamente la atención el desarrollo de su triple espaldar. la labor de lacería desarrollada en cada uno de sus respaldos es trabajo a destacar desde el punto de vista de calidad constructiva y de diseño, un detalle que la especialista en mueble antiguo m.ª paz aguiló alonso relaciona con el similar sistema de pala que presenta aspectos concretos del púlpito de la catedral de lima o ciertos ejemplos conservados en la denominada casa de aliaga (perú) [1]. \n \n \n a pesar de tener originariamente una ubicación destinada a recibidores de diferentes construcciones arquitectónicas (como palacios o grandes casas señoriales) concebidos como muebles en parejas, en este caso tenemos noticia de un origen religioso, si éste fue su primer destino, al proceder, según la propiedad, del coro del convento dominico de santa catalina de osuna (sevilla). \n \n \n maría campos carles de peña, versada en la materia que nos ocupa y a través de su conocimiento de estos dos muebles mediante fotografías, señala que \u201cse trata de piezas de muy buena calidad estilística y constructiva\u201d donde la especialista señala, de modo general, la watermark, which we found on the support paper) under the ink and gouache, give this drawing originality in its execution. in our opinion, this design shows a version inspired by one of the two prints that present the portrait of van der geest, one on a painting (rather than a drawing) by van dyck printed by paulus pontius (1603-1658) executed by martin van den enden (c.1605-c. 1655), another similar one with the intervention of the first two, where the variants with respect to our drawing of the doublet button and some greater mobility in the sitter's hair, make this work a free copy of a drawing based on a print. \n \n we propose that it was by a spanish draughtsman, specifically francisco de solís, on the basis of two facts: 1. - the drawing of van der geest in the national museum of stockholm (25.5 x 18.4 cm nmh 1973/1863) is considered to be an original by van dyck, on which, in the lower right corner, appears the inscription \u2018cornelivs vander geest\u2019, whether or not it is original by van dyck, but it is written by a flemish personage due to the name \u2018cornelius\u2019; on the other hand, the inscription of the name \u2018cornelius\u2019 in the drawing that concerns us here refers to another sphere, in this case castilianised, which could relate the execution of this thought by a spanish-speaking draughtsman; 2. - this fact, together with the signature of francisco de solís in the lower right corner of the print depicting the image of van der geest (now in the biblioteca nacional de españa), a signature that indicates ownership of the print, has led us to consider the possibility of attributing, with some justification, the authorship of this drawing to the madrid painter. perhaps a certain admiration among madrid artists in the second half of the 17th century for a van der geest related to important aspects of the art of painting mentioned above led to the creation of this original drawing depicting his effigy. \n \n provenance: \n propia imagen física de van der geest, the national gallery de londres conserva un retrato de este personaje, pintura original de anton van dyck, realizada cuando este maestro de la pintura contaba con 21 años de edad. \n \n el uso de lápiz negro (hecho no detectado en la catalogación realizada por ansorena subastas junto a la omisión informativa de filigrana, que localizamos en su papel soporte) bajo la tinta y la aguada, confieren a este dibujo originalidad en su realización. en nuestra opinión, este diseño muestra una versión inspirada en una de las dos estampas que presentan el retrato de van der geest, una sobre pintura (más que dibujo) de van dyck estampada por paulus pontius (1603-1658) bajo ejecución de martin van den enden (c.1605-c. 1655), otra similar con intervención de los dos primeros, donde las variantes respecto a nuestro dibujo de botonadura del jubón y cierta mayor movilidad en el pelo del retratado, hacen de esta obra una copia libre de dibujo basado en estampa. \n \n proponemos su autoría a un dibujante español, en concreto a francisco de solís, en base a dos hechos: 1.- el dibujo que retrata a van der geest y conserva el museo nacional de estocolmo (25,5 x 18,4 cm nmh 1973/1863) se considera original de van dyck en el cual, en su ángulo inferior derecho, aparece la inscripción, original o no de van dyck, \"cornelivs vander geest\" pero sí reseñada por personaje adscrito al ámbito flamenco debido a la denominación \"cornelius\"; en cambio, la inscripción del nombre \"cornelio\" en el dibujo que aquí nos ocupa, hace referencia a otro ámbito, castellanizado en este caso, que podría relacionar la ejecución de este pensamiento por dibujante castellano parlante; 2.- este hecho, unido a la firma de francisco de solís en el ángulo inferior derecho de la estampa que representa la imagen de van der geest (conservada en la biblioteca nacional de españa), una firma que indica propiedad de la citada estampa, nos ha llevado a plantear de posibilidad de atribuir, con cierto fundamento, la autoría de este dibujo al pintor madrileño. quizá cierta admiración entre los artistas del madrid de la segunda mitad del siglo xvii por de la alta aristocracia de aquel país. el gusto por la pintura de melanie, tercera esposa del príncipe, le señaló como conservador de la colección de pinturas de ella, con quien debió de mantener un indudable contacto artístico. \n \n \n esta miniatura presenta, firmada en el lateral derecho \u201cdaffinger\u201d, el retrato de una mujer joven por identificar. su peinado corresponde con la moda femenina vienesa de la década de 1830, si lo comparamos con el tocado que porta la archiduquesa sofía de austria (1805-1872) en el retrato que de ella realizó joseph karl stieler (1781-1858) en 1832. nuestra retratada presenta cierta candidez y porte elegante, con una sencilla indumentaria, fino pendiente y cadena alrededor de su cuello. podría tratarse de alguna mujer descendiente del príncipe metternich, con tres matrimonios y numerosas hijas, más otra ilegítima reconocida. \n \n \n el museo nacional del prado en madrid conserva una pintura adquirida en 1980 donde se retrata a francisco
